Hey Friends!  Remember me? 

I'm the one who used to blog here, regularly.
 Yeah....that girl!

I can happily report that I haven't blogged because I've been busy with the new direction of my Etsy shop.  Last fall, I started the transition from making organizer bins, accessories and the like to the world of home decor.  I love making pillow covers and it's been a great success.

I realized that it was just much easier to keep customers up-to-date on the latest items and SG news via the Sew Gracious Facebook page.  I'm already logged in there daily and it's easy to share a picture and a quick quip about something new.  As much as I enjoyed doing the blog, it created more work and I felt like I was repeating myself here and on FB.  

That said...I hope you will follow/like Sew Gracious on Facebook.  I'm going to take a break from writing the blog for a while, but hope to get back to it.  I have tons of pictures and recipes to share but until there are more than 24 hours in the day, I'll stick with sewing and keeping up up-to-date via Facebook.

Christmas Fabric Organizer Bins are back for 2010

After debuting in 2009, Original Sew Gracious Christmas Organizer Bins are available again in the SG Etsy Shop!  The classic, much-loved Leopard Santa is back, {with some new fabrics from that group coming soon!}    Customer favorite damask is now available in some new colorways; perfect for Christmas!  New holiday owls in non-traditional winter colors are great for those who celebrate Christmas as well as those who enjoy the winter season.   What cute hostess gifts, housewarming presents and don't forget teachers!  They love bins!

If you could see my studio, you would amazed at all of the other new fabrics that are one the way to the shop.  Right now I am balancing my time between filling orders and making items with new fabrics.  As promised on Facebook, a brand new item is still in the works.  Fabric is cut and ready, now to find a few more hours in day to sew!

REALLY IMPORTANT INFO ABOUT WHEN YOUR ORDER WILL SHIP:
Right now, most orders ship within 5-7 business days after payment is received {Monday-Friday : weekends & holidays excluded} There are, of course, exceptions.  Ready to ship items are mailed right away while larger orders may take a little longer. As the holidays approach, that turnaround time is sure to be a little longer.  Please keep this in mind as you begin your holiday shopping.  If you are in a rush, please let me know and ask if I am able to meet your needs. The planned deadline for Christmas orders is December 5.  After that date, only ready to ship items will be listed in the shop.  All others will be removed until after the holidays.  That will allow me to offer items for last minute shoppers as well as enjoy planning for Christmas with my family..

Bad Blogger

Ok.  Obviously my blog needs a little love.  I knew I hadn't blogged in a few days, but didn't realize it's been 2 weeks.

In my defense, it has been a busy 2 weeks.   I've been:

sewing like crazy; catching up on orders that came in during my vacation
working with several smart brides got their bridesmaids from me on Etsy
working new items
going to Little Gracious's softball games 
celebrating that Little Gracious made the volleyball team at her school for next year
planting our veggie garden {pictures to come soon}
planting annuals {more pictures to come soon}
dodging some typical Southern severe weather
getting back to working out regularly {attempting it anyway}
having some landscaping done {major project that would be hard for us to do alone}

I could tell you more, but I think you get the idea.  Real life happens.

I have been posting on Facebook regularly so you can become a fan to stay updated {or now that they've changed things again, you have to "like" me}.  I hope you like me anyway.  :)

I promise to try to be a better blogger. May is going to be a super busy month but I have SO much new fabric that is calling my name.  Hang in there with me!

Easy Crockpot Chicken & Dumplins

So the weather is colder, you are busy and the daily question from this family is:

Mom, what's for dinner?

EASY CROCKPOT CHICKEN & DUMPLINS

2-3 boneless, skinless chicken breasts {frozen is ok}
1/2 onion, quartered
1 can Cream of Chicken soup {reduced fat is ok}
1 package Crescent Rolls {reduced fat works here too}

Place chicken in the crockpot and add just enough water to cover or almost cover. Add the quartered onion and season with salt & pepper. Cook on low to medium, depending on when you start. If you get this going before work in the morning, set your cooker on low. If you start in the afternoon, like I usually do, medium will work. Cook until chicken is tender.

Remove onion from crockpot & discard. Take 2 forks and shred the chicken right in the crockpot. {If your crockpot has a non-stick finish, remove chicken to shred then put it back in the pot}. Add cream of chicken soup and whisk. Replace the cover and let this go until about 15 minutes before you are ready to eat. Now add the crescent rolls. Simply pinch the dough into bite-sized pieces, drop into the crockpot, then stir gently. Add a bit if dried tarragon if you like. Replace the lid, let the dumplins cook at least 15 minutes and dinner will be ready when you are.

This is great served with Jiffy cornbread muffins.
