Girly . Boutique-y . Chic-y

Green with Red Polka Dots

Swirly inside

Chic Red and Green Zebra
Holiday Flourish

Don't you love the fun, girly pairing of colors and prints that you see at boutiques and in catalogs now?  Zebra or leopard print paired with EVERYTHING!   Whimsical apple green instead of the traditional primary green for Christmas.  Polka dots are everywhere!  Who doesn't love polka dots . .  really!

I've been inspired to create the Sew Gracious vision of these fun pairings.  These are just a few of the new Christmas Organizer Bins in this shop.   What a pretty place to store all those Christmas cards that will start coming in soon.  Fill one with bath and body goodies for your BFF!  Cookies and classroom supplies inside a bin would be a great teacher gift!

Just a few ideas to help you out with a little holiday shopping.  Only 26 days til Christmas, ya know!

Merry Christmas

Cucumbers in Sour Cream : A Special Thanksgiving Recipe

Part of the Thanksgiving meal is having special dishes that bring back memories of years gone by.  In Sew Daddy's family, one of those special dishes is Cucumbers in Sour Cream.   His Mother made it every Thanksgiving and it was always a family favorite.  It was a nice, fresh taste among all of the other yummy, rich food that comes along with holidays. Sew Daddy's mother is in Heaven but she is remembered every year when we enjoy her special recipe.  She was a generous woman and would be happy for me to share her recipe with you.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Cucumbers in Sour Cream
3-4 large cucumbers; washed and peeled
1/2 sweet, white onion; diced
salt and pepper to taste
sour cream {I use light}
Slice cukes into very thin slices {about 1/16" if possible} and put them into a large bowl.  Add diced onion and season to taste with salt and pepper.  Add enough sour cream and toss to coat all cukes and onions.  Add more sour cream as needed to make sure the dish is moist.  Cover and chill until ready to serve.  Overnight is best, if possible.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is great made a day ahead, but can be enjoyed the same day if made early.  if there are any leftovers, I enjoy it over it over a green salad. It serves as the dressing and is DIVINE!  If you plan to do this, add a little extra sour cream when making the dish.  ENJOY!

Christmas Fabric Organizer Bins are back for 2010

After debuting in 2009, Original Sew Gracious Christmas Organizer Bins are available again in the SG Etsy Shop!  The classic, much-loved Leopard Santa is back, {with some new fabrics from that group coming soon!}    Customer favorite damask is now available in some new colorways; perfect for Christmas!  New holiday owls in non-traditional winter colors are great for those who celebrate Christmas as well as those who enjoy the winter season.   What cute hostess gifts, housewarming presents and don't forget teachers!  They love bins!

If you could see my studio, you would amazed at all of the other new fabrics that are one the way to the shop.  Right now I am balancing my time between filling orders and making items with new fabrics.  As promised on Facebook, a brand new item is still in the works.  Fabric is cut and ready, now to find a few more hours in day to sew!

REALLY IMPORTANT INFO ABOUT WHEN YOUR ORDER WILL SHIP:
Right now, most orders ship within 5-7 business days after payment is received {Monday-Friday : weekends & holidays excluded} There are, of course, exceptions.  Ready to ship items are mailed right away while larger orders may take a little longer. As the holidays approach, that turnaround time is sure to be a little longer.  Please keep this in mind as you begin your holiday shopping.  If you are in a rush, please let me know and ask if I am able to meet your needs. The planned deadline for Christmas orders is December 5.  After that date, only ready to ship items will be listed in the shop.  All others will be removed until after the holidays.  That will allow me to offer items for last minute shoppers as well as enjoy planning for Christmas with my family..
Take a peek in the shop to see Christmas bins as well as all other Fabric Organizer Bins.  They make the best gifts and you can't beat the price!  :)

By the way, only 38 days til Christmas . . . :)

VOTE : Today is Election Day

The mid-term elections are today.  Voting is a priviledge and people have shed blood to protect that priviledge.  Our founding fathers came here to escape an overbearing goverment.  They came here to avoid religious persecution and taxation without representation so they could establish a government that was for the people, by the people.  They were ruled by a monarch; one who infiltrated every aspect of their lives.  They had no freedom.  They came here, fought many bloody battles, but in the end the people prevailed.

As I look at our country today, I wonder what our founding fathers would say if they were here today.  They would probably be very sad; feeling that their efforts were in vain.  They would see a government that is infiltrating every aspect of our lives.  They would see an insane amount of taxes, earmarks and goverment waste.  They would see career politicians who are more interested in building their own wealth rather creating an political/economic environment where their constituents have an opportunity to flourish.  The founding fathers would see the highest leaders in that land pushing through policies that the people do not support.  I believe the founding fathers would be so disappointed in the state of affairs in 2010.

The good news is that today is the first step toward REAL change.  It's an opportunity for the people to beginning taking back OUR government.  It is the chance to make our voices heard and heard loudly; in Washington and locally.

I have heard some people say that they like neither candidate for an office so they just won't vote at all because they don't want to support "the lesser of two evils".   By not voting at all, they are only serving "the greater of two evils".

Remember to vote today.  Our country, our economy, our future, our children are depending on your effort.
